DESCENDANTS OF ELISHA T. SAUNDERS AND ALMIRA LORD
ELISHA T. was born in Brookfield, Madison County, New York 10 Mar 1828.
Son of Elisha P. Saunders and Sarah ??.
On 10 Jun 1850 Elisha T. married ALMIRA LORD in Sanford, Broome County, New York.
She was a short plump lady with blue eyes and brown hair,
born Mar 1832 in Suffield, Hartford, Connecticut.
Daughter of Alonzo G. Lord and Betsy F. Austin.
The Lord's were called "down eastern yankees".
Elisha and Almira lived in several places in Sanford finally buying a farm at Perch Pond Hill near the northern end of of Perch Pond Lake.
Which would be near Vallonia Springs at Colesville, Broome County, New York.
According to the 1889 Directory, he had 12 acres.
They had nine children.
Elisha sometimes preached in the Perch Pond School House which was, also, used as a church.
He, also, set up a Sunday School for the little children.
He would often take his small Grandchildren and set them on his lap and tell them Bible stories.
Which ,afterward, he would ask them questions. This way they learned the Bible.
There was a lane down the side of the house that led to the shallow end of the lake.
He would often walk down this lane with the grandchildren and go fishing.
The following quote is directly as Jennie
said it "Grandpa was a Baptist; as to Politics he was a Prohibitionist."

ALMIRA died in 1877 of pneumonia at the age of 45.
They say she had been working at the school house at Easter vacation washing the floors and sweeping.
It was very cold at that time.
The youngest child, Elizabeth, was just five years old.
Elisha had a hard time, as he was not well himself.
He tried his best to keep the younger children together.
However, the children left home at an early age, going to work at various homes.
They worked for their room and board and sometimes received a few dollars.
The diary says that in 1882 Elisha married a widow, SARAH COOK from Bainbridge, New York. However, in checking with the New York State Vital records,
a marriage record was not found. They checked 1881 to 1884.
Vital records in New York start at 1881. So they may have been married in 1880 or possibly 1885.

Finally on November 11 1893, at the home of his son, Elmer Clarence in Union Valley, Chenango County, New York.(They say it was Oxford, but the death certificate says Union Valley)
